For the fourth day Of Welcome to the Sanità District within the scope of the first edition of SàFF – Sanità Film Festivalthe presentation of is scheduled «Correspondences: Walking with a Dutchman in the Rione Sanità» book published by Edizioni San Gennaro by the Dutch author Gert Hage(Thursday 4th July at 6.00pm at the former Mendicicomio in via Cristallini 73).
The event has reached its ninth edition It left on Monday 1st Julywill continue until July 5th with events spread across the whole neighborhood thanks also to the first edition of SàFF – Sanità Film Festival, promoted and financed by the the municipality of Naples in the context of Cohousing Cinema Naples project and organized by San Gennaro Community Foundation EF e Apogee ETSwith the sponsorship of the Campania Region.
On the occasion of this special presentation, Gert Hage with the astute conduction of Francis Izzowill accompany us on a unique journey in the heart of the Sanità districtexploring the neighborhood with the gaze and pace of a journalist and writer Dutch that has chosen Naples as a fundamental stage in his existential journey. Through his stories, we will meet the inhabitants, discover their doubts and certainties, climb onto the roofs and immerse ourselves in the depths of the earth.
With a style that mixes Northern European rationality with the light and disenchanted spirit of a Mediterranean cityHage dissolves prejudices and clichés in a fraternal embrace of one of the most complex and fascinating neighborhoods of Naples. “I thought I knew Naples quite well. I had walked it far and wide, and by now the city no longer held many secrets for me. But I hadn’t taken into account the Rione Sanità. That was a different story. The smells and sounds made my head spin. I had read that Sanità was Naples squared; well, that statement seemed reductive to me.”
