The last act of the 2023-24 LBA championship was also archived with the Finals between Virtus Bologna (which started with the advantage of the eventual game 5 at home) and Olimpia Milano after almost a month of playoffs. The series developed over four hard-fought matches in which the team coached by Ettore Messina had to sweat for a long time – game 1 ended after extra time in favor of EA7 and it was the first time that this happened in a championship series – first overturning the home advantage and then winning the next two home matches at the Unipol Forum. Nikola Mirotic was named UnipolSai MVP of the LBA Finals (link), Alessandro Pajola was named Best Assistman of the 2024 Finals (link).
In the quarterfinals theOlimpia Milan – after the misstep in Game 1 – he won three games in a row over Trento to go through and meet the Germani Brescia, fresh from a clear 3-0 against Estra Pistoia. EA7 qualified with a clear 3-0, despite being hard fought. On the other side of the bracket, the two semifinalists arrive having survived Game 5 of their respective series. There Reyer Venice was close to elimination, but in the end led by Rayjon Tucker eliminated Reggio Emilia. He also risked it Virtus Bologna, recovered to 2-2 after winning the first two matches. At the Segafredo Arena, coach Banchi’s team made no mistakes in the decisive Game 5. History almost repeated itself in the semi-final with the Bologna team going ahead 2-0. Game 3 at Taliercio sees the victory of Spahija’s men, who however do not repeat themselves in game 4, leaving the final to Virtus.
