Coachella 2024, the imaginative show of Tyler, The Creator with Gambino and ASAP Rocky

Imaginary and imaginative: there is only one Tyler, and he is the only one capable of transforming the Coachella stage into a fantastic environment, born from his imagination and become reality. A bit like his desire (although perhaps it is better to call it objective) that he had set himself in 2011, at his first performance in Indio. On that occasion it didn’t go very well, but the iron will to be “The singer on the most important stage” started right there. And it always materialized there. Some time has passed since that episode, as it has since OFWGKTA, and Tyler’s confidence on stage is incredible.

Master of imagination

A stage that is also Tyler, The Creator’s playground: the atmosphere changes as the lights change color and intensity, creating a unique atmosphere for each track. Tyler is at the center of the scene, the perfect Pied Piper of Hamelin, so much so that he manages to transport the spectators to his magical place, a canyon, made of lights and colours.

The show and the guests of the evening

A fantastic show focused on music, which Tyler wanted to share with some artist friends. Many were thinking of Frank Ocean (it would have been the perfect opportunity for the singer-songwriter, given that last year, again at Coachella, his live performance was disastrous), but expectations were disappointed: Frank Ocean wasn’t there. But there was Childish Gambino, ASAP Rocky and Kali Uchis. Surreal, but true.

Childish Gambino is the first guest of the evening, but it is also the opportunity for Tyler to say that he himself couldn’t stand Gambino. Same situation for ASAP Rocky, who arrived on stage shortly after for two songs, Potato Salad And Who Dat Boy. “Yes, I couldn’t really see it, but we became friends and it’s much better that way.” There is also the voice of Kali Uchis, who recently had a baby with Omar Apollo but she arrives specifically for her friend Tyler and to perform a verse of the song See You Again. A year ago, on this same stage, Kali Uchis and Tyler sang the same song, but with the Californian rapper as a surprise guest. A year later, he is here again.

A live show that told who Tyler is, artist and person: a show full of imagination and fireworks, but in which he often chatted with those present and told them anecdotes and particularities about his songs. With a magical ending, like an authentic Tyler, The Creator.
