On Tuesday 7 May, at 9.00 pm, the presentation of the book “Enrico and Giuliano” will be held in the Screening Room of the Malatestiana Library (and. Baldini+Castoldi) Of Francesco Selvi. The presentation, which will be moderated by the writer Elisa Rocchi, will be followed by the screening of the film “Oleg’s Ecstasy”, presented at Malatesta Short Film Festival in 2020, produced by the Cesena film production company La Furia Film, with the participation of the Emilia Romagna Film Commission.

Enrico and Giuliano, a couple of friends, have the feeling of being completely inadequate for life. If Enrico spends all his days on a sofa that now looks like him, watching tennis matches to bet on and almost always lose, Giuliano changes one job after another, an epic of fatigue and unsustainable attempts interspersed with attacks of panic, which always arrive unexpectedly and at the most inopportune moments, reminding him how unacceptable his being in the world is. Small events and little incidents punctuated by the opening of beer cans, cigarettes, dribbling on the tennis court, the buzz of flies and the dismemberment of a can of tuna on offer 3×2. Small personal tragedies which, however, fail to undermine the desire to move forward and hope in the two. We don’t know exactly what, but hope. In any change, in a stroke of luck, in an event that messes up the cards. And luck arrives for once, knocking on the door in the form of a brutal crime. The two see a possible escape route, which they don’t miss. They open a hotel in the Apennine village where Giuliano has his grandparents’ ancestral home, the same village that was the scene of the brutal crime, about which everything is now known due to the wide media coverage the case has received. The idea seems to be good, the customers arrive, curious and macabre. But the killer cannot be found. How long can interest last in an omnivorous and curious audience? Not much, so much so that the two think perhaps another death would be needed. A whirlwind movement, which ultimately leads to nothing, until the final showdown.
