Outrage in Catanzaro. Iemma in Feltri: “Apologize to the city and to the women”

We receive and publish:

Vittorio Feltri’s statement regarding Ilaria Salis, described as “dressed like a waitress from Catanzaro”, makes me very indignant as a woman, as a citizen of Catanzaro and as a representative of the Institutions.
Extremely offensive comment and based on negative stereotypes regarding both waitresses and women in Catanzaro.

That of Mr Feltri is a contemptuous and classist judgment, which does not take into account the dignity and value of the work of the waitresses and the cultural and civilizational heritage of the city of Catanzaro. Allow me to express pride in my city and in the professions that women hold, including those in the service industry. The work of maids is honorable and worthy of respect like all others.
I express strong solidarity with Ilaria Salis and I stand alongside the many women who have defended and will continue to defend their right to dress as they prefer without being judged based on stereotypes or sexist comments.

Let Vittorio Feltri do the only thing he has left to do at this time: make a public apology to Ilaria Salis, to the women and to the city of Catanzaro.

We will always be at the forefront of a broader context of the fight against gender and class prejudices, to affirm respect and valorization of all professions and different local realities.
