The Aia Section of Torre del Greco, in fact, begins the 2024-2025 sports season in the best possible way, with the return to Serie A, due to the promotion of the referee Alberto Ruben Arena.
Confirmation of the news came yesterday, after the Aia National Committee announced the names of referees, assistants and observers promoted to the new staffs of their respective categories.
A dream come true for Alberto Ruben Arena, thirty-two year old referee since 2009. Graduated in Sports Science and an established personal trainer by profession, Ruben began his refereeing career following in the footsteps of his father Francesco (he was a referee at Can from 1991 to 1995).
It achieved promotion at the end of the last of its five seasons in Serie C, after having completed the process in all the national series and after having achieved important results in the previous championships.
Humble, polite and always available to everyone (especially to the youth sector), Arena represents the ideal profile of the modern referee, with a technical and regulatory preparation – as well as athletic – capable of gaining the appreciation of professionals beyond the refereeing movement.
In fact, the last championship saw the Torre del Greco referee being regularly involved in the main big matches of the three Serie C groups, in particular Avellino-Benevento, Taranto-Foggia, Picerno-Potenza, Padova-Mantova, Gubbio-Perugia and above all the first leg of the play-off final between Vicenza and Carrarese.
Two other promotions, moreover, reward the referee section of via Sedivola: the assistant referee Anthony Russo which arrives in Serie D at the end of the journey in the regional sphere in a championship peppered with prestigious high-ranking directions including several important finals.
The other promotion concerns the referee observer Domenico Castaldo Tuccilo which reaches Serie D after having examined referees and assistants employed by the regional committee.
The results obtained, the fruit of meticulous work and continuous growth, make the entire association and the Torre del Greco Board of Directors, led by the President, proud. Antonio D’Antonio.
The hope of the Corallini leaders is to continue the scouting work undertaken in the territory and confirm the good things achieved so far.
