The new Frecciarossa night train for Salento has left

Imagine enjoying a dinner in the heart of Milano and, in about nine hours, wake up to the scent of the sea and a breakfast Leccepearl of Salento, often nicknamed the “Florence of the South” for its extraordinary artistic and architectural heritage, a city that enchants with its baroque churches, evocative squares and an atmosphere rich in history and tradition.

It is no longer a dream but a captivating reality thanks to the new connection with the Night Frecciarossa which has brought together two of the most appreciated cultural and tourist centers of Italy, with Salento offering enchanting coasts, white sandy beaches and crystal clear sea, picturesque villages such as Otranto and Gallipoli, and a cuisine with authentic and genuine flavors.

This is a journey that not only shortens geographical distances, but gives the opportunity to live unforgettable experiences, between the effervescent urban life of Milan and the serenity and timeless beauty of the heel of Italy.

From Milan to Lecce in about nine hours

The new night Frecciarossa which connects Milan with Lecce in around nine hours left on its maiden voyage on 21 June.

The service, offered with the ETR 500, with the number 9561 departing from milan Central at 22.45 and I arrive at Lecce to the 07.57will remain active almost every weekend until September on the following dates:

  • 12, 13, 19, 20 July;
  • 02, 03, 09, 10 August;
  • 06, 07 September.

But not only that: there is also the night journey in opposite directionwith train number 9562 which departs from Lecce at 21.05 and arrives at milan Central at 07.35.

Along the route, there are twelve intermediate stops (both on the outward and return journeys): Milan Rogoredo, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna Centrale, Foggia, Barletta, Bari Centrale, Monopoli, Fasano, Ostuni and Brindisi.

An increasingly connected Puglia for the summer

The two new proposals of the Summer Experience, Trenitalia’s summer offer, make the Puglia increasingly connected with the North and the South during the holiday period par excellence and are added to the Intercity Milan-Lecce and Bari-Milan (which run every day) and the Frecciarossa to and from Milan, Venice, Padua, Bologna and Turin (which , during the summer, they will also stop in Monopoli, Fasano and Ostuni).

With a view to increasingly and better connecting Puglia with the rest of Italy, on Fridays and Saturdays the connection will be made between Lecce and Bolzano while on Saturday and Sunday the train will run in the opposite direction.

There is also no shortage of internal routes in the South, with two Intercitys traveling from Reggio Calabria to Lecce and vice versa, and Reggio Calabria-Bari and Bari-Reggio Calabria from July: trains on the Adriatic line will also stop in the splendid Polignano a Mare.

And the summer news doesn’t stop here. In fact, Puglia is strengthening its services with 240 regional trains daily, 10-15% more than last year: for the occasion, the links to and from Foggia have been confirmed (San Giovanni Rotondo link and Vieste link) in collaboration with Cotrap, the Monopoli beach link to reach the main beaches from Monopoli to Chapter (with the collaboration of the Miccolis Lentini buses).

The renewed ones too train+bus connections with the collaboration of the South Eastern Railways: new train connections to Gallipoli as well as the Otranto link and the Porto Cesareo link will start from Lecce.
