What will be the future of football fields in Corso Lazio? To date, a very uncertain future, like that which unfortunately unites the majority of municipal sports facilities scattered throughout the territory. A turning point could be represented by the proposal for the redevelopment of the entire sports complex presented by the “Accademia Frosinone”, which could bring the sports facilities back to their former splendor. The company, of which Benedetta Lunghi is the legal representative, has, in fact, registered at Municipality of Frosinonesince last December, a proposal “for the awarding of the concession relating to the restructuring, completion and twenty-year management of the municipal sports facilities” in Corso Lazio and the “garden of the 5 senses”.
The investmentwhich would be supported, is around 530,000 euros and the project includes interventions on the existing fields with the creation of a new synthetic grass surface for the 11-a-side football pitch; the creation of additional changing rooms to the existing ones with prefabricated modules for the needs of all the users who should frequent the facility; the adaptation of the technological systems; the construction of a prefabricated modular grandstand in steel with a capacity of 250 spectators; the restoration of the basketball court and the restoration and maintenance of the garden of the five senses. A proposal on which the sports club has requested a response within a reasonable time more than once, but at the moment nothing has arrived from the Municipality of Frosinone.
In the meeting of the sports commission, chaired by councilor Pasquale Cirillo, which was held at the beginning of the month and in which the situation regarding sports facilities was taken stock, the director of assets, engineer Benito Caringi, in the presence of the councilor delegated to sports facilities, Francesco Pallone, who is personally following the evolution of each practice, said that the evaluation of the project proposal and that the investigation should be closed within a few weeks. However, the proponent asked for a quick response, because competitive commitments need to be planned and because the proposal, filed in December 2023, has been lying on the tables of the technical office for months. Meanwhile, the most probable scenario is that, in the absence of evidence, the competitive season could be scheduled in other locations, such as Ripi for example.
It would certainly be a scenario to be avoided for the city of Frosinone. It is certain that, if we take as a reference the reaction times of the Municipality in the evaluation of the proposal of project financing of the swimming poles filed by Bellator Frusino in September 2021 and to date still without outcome, there is nothing to be happy about.
