EcoAmbiente, the new board of directors has been installed. Yesterday morning the handover took place at the headquarters of the company, the operational arm of the institution of the area (Eda)Salerno for the management of the waste collection cycle in the provincial territory. Following the resignation of the outgoing board of directors, chaired by Vincent Petrosinoand the new appointments, we start again with the new governance led by the accountant from Salerno Nicola Ciancio (president) assisted by the new councilors Enrico Rocco, accountant from Fisciano, and the lawyer Lorenza Scaperrotta from Ariano Irpino.
The two councilors take over from Giusy Fiore and Andrea Lembo recently appointed administrator of the Sma Campania spa, the regional company that deals with environmental protection. While Petrosino leaves Ecoambiente to join the company Campania Bonifiche where he will serve as general manager. «We thank Eda for its trust, of which EcoAmbiente is an operational entity – comment the members of the new board of directors Ciancio, Rocco and Scaperrotta – and those who preceded us, President Petrosino and the councilors Lembo and Fiore, for the work carried out with dedication, passion and competence that led, thanks to the profitable and synergic relationships with the Region, to the recovery of a huge debt.
As a company – they underline – we have the task and the institutional duty to be credible actors and witnesses of sustainable development. We will work with a spirit of service to make our territory increasingly an excellence”. EcoAmbiente, previously of Property of the Provincehad accrued debts of approximately 60 million euros, of which 42 only towards the Region. Saved from bankruptcy by Petrosino, first as liquidator and then as chairman of the board of directors, the company, which employs 128 people, now manages four contracted plants, five landfills and two storage sites in the area. The 2023 budget closed positively, with Petrosino announcing the approval of the reduction in tariffs for municipalities that dispose of waste at the TMB of Battipaglia, the former Stir. «The change of leadership of EcoAmbiente spa is in line with the work carried out successfully so far» comments the president of Eda Salerno Giovanni Coscia. «I thank those who have held the helm of a company inherited in disastrous conditions – he continues – managing to restore it to health and produce profits and I extend my best wishes to three young and valid professionals who will certainly be able to operate in line with our mission, based on the circular economy».
The objective, for the president of the local authority, remains that of “making the province of Salerno increasingly autonomous in waste management, equipping ourselves with cutting-edge facilities, to guarantee the reduction of costs to the advantage of the territories and citizens and the efficiency of the service”.
