Announced in recent days, FerrovieNord has communicated the official start of the first extraordinary maintenance works on the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line. The operations, on the route Brescia-Bornatothey will start on the night between July 1st and 2nd and will continue until September: interventions that will take place mainly at night, so as not to interfere with rail traffic and create less inconvenience for passengers, even if the company informs of the possibility of extension during the day, with possible suspension of services and changes to road traffic.
The intervention, completely financed by the Lombardy Region with 17,703,040 euros, consists of the renewal and rehabilitation of the railway superstructure: the replacement of rails and sleepers is expected, through the use of a renewal train and with the commitment of approximately sixty people per night for a maximum production of approximately one kilometer per night.
The works also include the replacement of the ballast, thanks to the use of the ballast remediation machine: an operation, this, which will instead involve about fifteen people per night, for about 250 meters of ballast per shift. The construction site will start from the city of Brescia and will then continue along the line to the Bornato station. At the end of September, instead, the other intervention, for the section Artogne-Edolocosting 47,400,735 euros.
