What to do this evening in Lecce and its province
The ancient rite of tarantate returns, takes back the square of Galatina and becomes a show. In the spotlight the liberating dance of the women bitten by the Spider that has its roots in the ancestral memory of Salento and that has transformed the town in the province of Lecce into the cradle of tarantism: it is today’s key event of the patronal feast of San Pietro and Paolo that coincides with one of the most studied phenomena in the history of Puglia.
Double appointment, today and tomorrow at 8.45pm in the Sala Giardino in via Lino Suppressa (crossing via Petraglione) in Lecce, with “Classica d’Estate e wine”, the summer festival now in its seventh edition of the Camerata Musicale Salentina with some of the best artists of the Apulian and Italian musical panorama. Today it will be the turn of the duo formed by Giulia Fornaro on the flute and Francesco Masi on the piano, winners of the prize awarded by the Camerata at the 2023 Gallipoli International Classical and Jazz Music Competition. The program includes Reinecke’s Ballade Op. 288, the Sonata for flute and piano in B flat major WoO. Beethoven’s HA 11, Doppler’s Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy Op. 26, Taffanel’s “Andante Pastorale et Scherzettino”, and finally Donizetti’s Sonata for flute and piano A 503.
The historic center of Novoli is preparing to welcome “Vicoli di…Vini”, an event dedicated to the food and wine excellences of Salento, which will offer a unique and original evening, full of taste, culture and discovery. Among the alleys and historic churches of the ancient village of the northern Salento municipality steeped in history, participants will be able to explore at a slow pace and above all, glass in hand, the “architectural beauties” of the Novolese community.
