Supermoto sets record for Busca’s Kart Planet

“Our first success is that there were no accidents on the track, this is what interests us the most. Then, of course, we are satisfied, both for the record numbers of the public in the stands, and for the technical show offered by the drivers, some of whom also came from the United States and Brazil.”

The organizers are satisfied with the Piedmont Grand Prix hosted last weekend on the Kart Planet circuit in Busca and valid as the third round of the Supermoto World Championship. Everything went well. And there was no shortage of emotions, thanks mainly to the German Marc Reiner Schmidt, a true star who not only won the three scheduled S1Gp races, but also regained the lead in the standings at the expense of Frenchman Thomas Chareyre, who had arrived in Busca as the championship leader. In general, they were performances to be framed. The World Championship will continue on July 21st in Slomczyn, Poland; then on August 18th in St. Wendel in Germany, on September 8th in Cerchid in Romania and on October 6th in Mettet in Belgium.

Reiner’s advantage is 9 points over Chareyre, with a great comeback by the Venetian Elia Sammartin, perfectly at ease on the asphalt of Busca. Speaking of dominators, Spaniard Julen Avila Cortes has strengthened his lead in the Rookie Cup standings: he precedes Frenchman Tim Szalai and his compatriot Francisco Gomez Requena.

In the European Cup, Alberto Surra from Turin on KTM won the so-called “gold table” (that is, the top of the championship; in the World Championship it is the “red plate”) obtaining a pole position and two victories in three heats. Nothing to do for the Spanish Alex Rafael Gourdon on Husqvarna and for the Monza native Mattia Rato on Tm, respectively in second and third place.

In the European Sm Junior class, unstoppable Andrea Benvenuti from Lugo di Romagna who on his Ktm has lined up all his opponents. “His class and speed make him a formidable competitor, certainly a name to keep an eye on for the future of Supermoto and Motosport in general” commented the technicians.

Marco Cucchietti, Trinità driver, third in the Legend Cup

Great applause in the «Legend Cup» for Mauro Cucchietti. The driver from Trinità placed third overall, thrilling the public thanks to his speed, courage and consistency of performance on the Kart Planet circuit which led him to finish every race in second position; the success in the «Legend Cup» went to Petr Vorlicek of the Czech Republic ahead of Marco Longhin.
