The process to formalize the assignment of the contract continues Sea Metro but times change postpone the start of the service which should, at this point, start from the middle of next month. More days of waiting, therefore, with the only offer presented by Alicost, the shipping company that has already dealt with the connections by sea from and to the Cilento.

In recent days, in fact, the OK has arrived from the tender commission and now the process must be formalized, which requires timescales such as not to allow the departure scheduled for July 1st. Consequently, the closure of the connection service, which according to the tender notice should end on 31 August, could also be postponed. Furthermore, in the next few days, the usual verification activities will also begin in the port ports of Cilento, but there should be no problems with the landing of naval units. Some, among other things, have been affected by excavation works in recent weeks. Returning to the tender notice, Alicost has submitted the offer for lot 1, relating to the 2 lines that concern the Cilento side, with the connection between Salerno and the Cilento and between the Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento. In detail, line 1 will connect the ports of Agropoli, Saint Mark of Castellabate, Acciaroli, Casal Velino, Piss, Palinuro e Camerota during the weekends. Line 2, instead, will connect, from Monday to Friday, Salerno, Amalfi and Positano with Agropoli and San Marco di Castellabate. The process for the assignment of maritime connections to and from Cilento was particularly complex this year too.

In fact, after the first announcement of the Campania Region deserted, the Mobility Directorate had to prepare a second public notice, reviewing both the tender amounts and the duration of the service, to which the company then responded Alicost. Propaedeutic in this sense was also a meeting which took place, after the negative outcome of the first public notice, at Palazzo Santa Lucia with sector operators, promoted by the president of the transport commission of the Campania Region, Luca Cascone. Meanwhile, this year too the Trenitalia high-speed service for Cilento has returned, connecting Milan with Sapri, with intermediate stops at the stations of Agropoli, Vallo della Lucania, Pisciotta and Centola Palinuro-Marina di Camerota. The service will be active until September 29th.

«An initiative that is renewed every year, thanks to the commitment of the Campania Region council, with the aim of improving the mobility for tourism purposes to promote and develop some of the many areas of interest of our wonderful territory” the comment of Cascone.
