Attack in the women’s department of “Don Bosco”: the injured officer ends up in hospital. Sappe asks for greater protection for the Penitentiary
PISA — The Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union reported yet another episode of assault on an officer in the “Don Bosco” prison in Pisadenouncing the lack of protection towards the Penitentiary.
According to the union, the violence broke out in women’s departmentwhere a prisoner, just 20 days after another episode in which she was involved, attacked an officer, who then had to resort to hospital treatment.
“What leaves the Penitentiary Police staff disconcerted – said Francesco Oliviero, Tuscan secretary of Sappe – is once again the delay in taking action by the prison administration. The prisoners who become protagonists of such events, according to the rules in force, should be transferred immediately. The Pisan prison has no automation systems, the structure is dilapidated and it needs important interventions to be started as soon as possible.”
“It has been consumed a very serious attack on the State For those who represent him in prison – added Donato Capece, general secretary – a complete reversal of direction is needed in the management of regional prisons and of the country. We also appeal to the regional and local political authorities: in prison there are not only prisoners, but humble servants of the State who currently feel abandoned by the institutions.”
