The new 2024 incentives have led to a real Electric car registrations to surge in June 2024. Thanks to this result, the Italian car market grew by 15% in June. After the first 6 months of the year the time has come to take stock of the situation to find out how the market is going in our country and which are the best-selling cars.

According to UNRAE data, In the first half of 2024 there were 886,386 registrationswith a growth of 5.3% compared to the 841,573 units of the same period last year. Looking more closely at the data on fuels, in the first 6 months there were 270,866 registrations of petrol carcompared to 236,979 in the same period of 2023. This is an increase in volume of 14.3%. Market share of 30.2%.

Diesel in sharp decline. From January to June there were 130,572 registrations against 165,600 in 2023. Therefore, a decrease of 21.2% and a market share of 14.6%. LPG is good which with 81,467 registrations grew by 7.6% in the 6 months (75,723 units in 2023). These cars reached a share of 9.1%.

As regards the methane-powered carsin the first 6 months we find 1,213 units registered against 1,045 in 2023. Growth of 16.1% but a market share of just 0.1%.

Always hybrid cars are very good. From January to June 2024, 348,637 units were registered against 300,669 in 2023. We are talking about a growth of 16% and a market share of 38.9%.

In netto calo le Plug-in. Compared to last year, a decrease of 26.9% was recorded (29,230 units against 39,816). Market share of 3.3%. The boom in June allows the electric cars to recover all the ground lost since the beginning of the year. In the first 6 months, 35,086 BEVs were registered against 32,806 in 2023. We are talking about an increase in volume of 6.9% for a market share of 3.9%.
