Prosecutor’s Office Opposes Release of “Racastill”

The Foggia Prosecutor’s Office firmly opposes the judge’s decision to lighten the precautionary measure for Raffaele Fatone, nicknamed “Racastill”, investigated in the “Hands off” operation on charges of having physically attacked Domenico Manzella, a colleague of the ASEthe municipal waste management company. For the young Fatone, in fact, the measure of house arrest was replaced with the simple prohibition of approaching the injured party. His father, Michele Fatone, also involved in the investigation into the attack on Manzella and other events, was transferred from prison to house arrest. These measures were issued following the notice of conclusion of the investigations for ten suspects.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, “Raffaele Fatone’s personality is poorly outlined by the investigative findings, which already at the stage of the precautionary order and the review have highlighted his reputation as a ‘thug’ and the attempts to contaminate the evidentiary framework, both destroying evidence (such as the deletion of the images of the car wash cameras that had filmed Fatone leaving the house on the morning of the attack on Manzella), both inducing the offended persons not to report or to withdraw the complaints“.

The Prosecutor’s Office also underlines that “the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, notified on 18 June 2024 to the suspects, should strengthen, rather than attenuate, the precautionary needs. The results of the investigations following the execution of the precautionary measures revealed further attempts to tamper with the evidence by Fatone’s family membersdemonstrating the ongoing risk of tampering with evidence, which would be worsened by the release of Raffaele Fatone and his free reunification with his other family members”.

In the meantime, the ASE employees, Domenico Manzella and Carmone, appeared in the trial between the Fatones and a newspaper (sued by the Fatones for having reported what was written in the anti-mafia complaints and reports). Both workers confirmed before the judge that they had been beaten by the “Racastills”.

Raffaele Fatone was recently fired from Ase due to the revelations that emerged in the “Hands Off” operation, while his father recently retired.
