ALBA ADRIATICA. The Competition and Market Authority has written to the Municipality of Alba Adriatica, and in particular to the mayor Antonietta Casciottia letter in which, following the resolution of the municipal council of 29 December last which extended all expiring maritime state concessions until 31 December 2024, notes «possible competitive criticalities in the matter of maritime state concessions for tourist-recreational use» in the Alba area.
In the note, the Guarantor recalls both «its numerous interventions with which it has repeatedly underlined how the continuous use of extensions violates the principles of competition to the extent that it prevents competitive comparison for the market and favors the distorting effects connected to unjustified income position attributed to the concessionaires”, and the recent pronouncements of the Council of State on the matter, in particular the one which states “the principle according to which only the “technical” extension limited for the time can be considered compatible with European Union law strictly necessary for the carrying out of the competitions”. In conclusion, the Authority deems it necessary to urge the Municipality of Alba “so that all the selective procedures for the assignment of the new concessions are carried out as soon as possible and that the assignment takes place no later than 31 December 2024”.(red.te)
