June is drawing to a close with many events in all the provinces of Veneto in the last weekend of the month including concerts, opera evenings, theater and dance performances, exhibitions, film screenings and festivals where you can taste typical dishes of the Venetian culinary tradition.
Venice
TO Mirano The Summer Festival begins at the weekend and lasts until July 28th in the Sports Facilities area in via Cavin di Sala with the opening of the food and wine stands from 7.30pm and performances by musical bands and artists at 9pm. It starts on Friday with the performance of the Veronese Diapason Band that brings the greats to the stage successes of Vasco Rossi. On Saturday it is the turn of Radio Wow with Pagante, while on Sunday it is the turn of Rumatera, a Venetian punk rock band. Still on the topic of concerts, it closes on Saturday at Jesolo by the sea on the beach of Piazza Brescia the «Aqua – The philosophy of the sea» festival at 8.30 pm with the singer-songwriter Paola Turci and the music critic Gino Castaldo. The two come together to talk about music and words the three-year period of Italian music from 1979 to 1981 with the project «Il tempo dei Giganti». Saturday is the turn of the big disco party «Le Folies de Pigalle» with DJs Claudio di Rocco, Andy J, Federica Baby Doll and the voices of Lele Folies and Yvonne O’Neil. In the Pink Arena Mattew Wonderbratz plays on the console. The special guest is on Sunday Stella Bossi, one of Berlin’s techno DJs most loved. This is followed by the performance of Samantha Togni, an Italian DJ and producer who lives in London, and the DJ and rapper Chippy Nonstop: two artists who curate musical projects for women and the LGBTQIA+ community. Finally, the emerging DJ and producer from Padua, Thomas Deil, closes the evening. Also in Padua, at the Park Nord Stadio Euganeo, other artists perform at Sherwood Festival, an independent event of music, culture and sport. For the cost of one euro it is possible to listen to the performance of Attila & The Barbarians, one of the most interesting voices in the Italian reggae and dancehall scene, on the main stage at 9pm on Friday, followed by that of Jamaican reggae singer Anthony B. On Saturday at 9pm the European Championships will be shown on the big screen, while on the secondary stage there will be a performance by Annabit, future-pop singer-songwriter, at 10pm. On Sunday at 7pm at the Audioforum Giorgio Bonomi’s musical commentary on 1994 between grunge, Britpop, trip-hop and alternatives and at 9pm the screening of the European Football Championship match. TO Terrassa Padovana finally it is the first weekend of the 8th Festa della Bontà di Bufala with the possibility of eating from 7pm in via Goffredo Mameli ragù, tagliata, roast beef, stew and other dishes based on buffalo meat.
Verona
TO Verona The third edition of Forte Gisella in Danza opens this weekend, a contemporary dance event organized by Ersiliadanza with the performance between this and next weekend of 15 companies from all over Italy and Belgium. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7.30pm a traveling performance itinerary starts at different points of the Fort Gisella, in its internal and external spaces, while at 9.30 pm the public can sit in the stalls to watch the performances on the central stage. In the province of Verona there are also numerous festivals during the weekend. Sona will host «Lugagnano at full beer» in the car park of the Lugagnano Tennis Club with spatzle, pork shank, salà meat, tasty beer of course and entertainment including country music and DJ sets. TO Vicenza, in the San Pio The appointment is Friday and Saturday in via Adolfo Giurato starting from 6pm. On the first day Jacksia, The Arvik, Black Sangue perform and then leave room for the Ciclodisco DJ set from half past midnight. It is also possible to take part in the Champions Spio five-a-side football matches and the Spio Beach beach volleyball matches. Saturday instead is the turn of performances by J Marito, Dombre, Amalia Bloom, Comrad and the Gazebo Penguins. The evening will end with Franky Suleman’s DJ set. Saturday from 2.30pm until evening and Sunday from 10.45am and throughout the day it will be held at Thiene the Festival of Humanity at Home Together with workshops and conferences on wellbeing, spirituality and personal growth. Among the guests on Sunday at 3.30pm Igor Sibaldi, writer, philologist and playwright, with a conference entitled «The beginning and end of our humanity». Finally, even in the Vicenza area there are numerous festivals at the weekend. Among these is the one in the small center of San Pietro Intrigogna where in the evening from 7.30 pm you can taste the fry with fried polenta or that of Lovara of Trissino specializing in fresh pasta, gnocchi with fioretta and krapfen. Finally, last weekend for the Sardea goddess festival in Barbano of Grisgnano di Zocco with the kitchen opening from 7pm to taste the sardines in saor and spaghetti alla sardea, along with many other dishes.
Treviso
In the historic center of Asolo the 31st edition of the Asolo Palio and the thirteenth edition of the Palio dei 100 horizons take place. There are 10 municipalities involved, 34 teams competing and over 300 young people who have trained for these events for months. They will compete on Saturday at 6pm the women’s sections, while on Sunday at 5pm it is the turn of the men’s teams. At the end of the races, the awards ceremony and the party will follow in Piazza Brugnoli. TO Treviso the theater and cinema meetings of the “Estate Incantata” series continue. On Saturday and Sunday at 4pm there will be a promenade in the secret places of the Mario del Monaco Theatre and then leave space in various parts of the city for theatrical performances, readings and meetings with artists’ companies. On Saturday at 9.15pm the film «Il delitto Matteotti» by Florestano Vancini will be screened in Piazza Rinaldi, while on Sunday at 6pm there will first be a performance by the Mani Bianche del Veneto Choir in the park in front of the “Case Piavone” Ethnographic Museum and then at 9pm in Piazza Rinaldi the exhibition of Sardinian dances and songs or alternatively at 9.15pm in the Parco Ducale the screening of the film «Nostalgia» by Mario Martone. TO Borgo Valbelluna Transito Film Festival, an independent cinema festival, closes on the weekend. The theme of this third edition is indifference. The last screening is on Saturday near Palazzo Pretorio in Cesana at 9.30pm preceded by an introduction at 8.30pm. In the historic center of Feltre instead the Artistic and Traditional Crafts Exhibition arrives. Artisan skill and “Made in Italy” are the protagonists of the event with wrought iron blacksmiths, masters of glass processing, sculptors, painters, ceramists, artisans and artists who populate the streets of the city with their shows from Piazza Maggiore, along via Mezzaterra in Largo Castaldi. In the Broi public garden Agordo finally the Sagra de San Piero is held with typical cuisine, entertainment and music. Friday is dedicated to local gastronomy, with the renowned “tocà da boia and polenta” served for dinner, smooth music and DJ sets. Saturday, however, the day of the patron saint, solemn mass at 10.30, followed by lunch under the tent with tripe and the typical San Piero dish. The afternoon is animated by dance shows, while for dinner you can enjoy a skewer with polenta, dumplings, Bud Spencer beans and sliced meat with background music from the bands Sinfonia, Nobrasska and Illazy.
Rovigo
TO Rosolina Sea The Summer Carnival arrives on Saturday. From Viale dei Pini to Piazzale Europa the parade of allegorical floats with music, confetti, masked groups, majorettes and itinerant entertainment will unfold. The evening then continues, at the entrance to Viale dei Pini, with an 80s-90s music party with DJ Simone Canova and Andrea Cecchinato from Radio Gemini.
