Hello friends of weathersicily.it. As usual we show you today’s data, Sunday 30 June 2024, provided by the radio survey carried out at Trapani Birgi.
The freezing level was detected at an altitude of 4845 metres.
The temperature detected at 500 hpa is: -8.7 °C at an altitude of 5960 meters
The temperature detected at 850 hpa is: 25 °C at an altitude of 1569 meters
The temperature recorded at 700 hpa is: 14.6 °C at an altitude of 3240 meters
Radiosoundings in Italy are processed by the Air Force. These are performed every 12 hours by launching upwards probes equipped with all the necessary instruments for the purpose of detecting the various thermodynamic indices. In Sicily the area where this operation is carried out is the Trapani Birgi airport. Thanks to all the values collected, a radiosounding is processed; this is nothing more than a real table of numbers that summarizes all the data provided by the probe; through this it is also possible to draw graphs useful for actually understanding the weather up to 12-14 km of altitude. The data provided by radiosoundings are varied, the most useful are those of the temperature recorded at various altitudes to better understand the truthfulness and reliability of the isotherms predicted by the mathematical models in the previous hours.
