VITERBO – Big announcements yesterday in Piazza Crispi where the mayor Chiara Frontini met residents and traders to illustrate the complete redevelopment project of the historic city square.

The area, which students and residents have long complained about due to insufficient parking spaces and heavy traffic, will undergo “important” changes in the next period.

“Yesterday we met the residents and traders of Piazza Crispi to illustrate the redevelopment of the square and share proposals, improvements and critical issues – declared Frontini – Even in this historic area of the city, another construction site is opening to redevelop spaces for sociability, making traffic more organized and combating uncontrolled parking”.

The work, as stated, will begin today and will end “by the start of school”.

In summary, the following will be the main changes dedicated to the redevelopment of Piazza Crispi:

  • Moving the newsstand which will be placed in a specially created space near the civic museum;
  • In front of the church and the museum, a buffer zone will be created where planters, trees and benches will be placed, with cobblestone paving;
  • A large area will be allocated to parking spaces for scooters which will increase by approximately 35 units compared to the current ones, so as to respond to the lack of parking spaces for school students, while parking spaces dedicated to cars will be kept unchanged. The road system will remain unchanged;
  • The quality of the square will also be improved through the use of draining paving, in compliance with the principle of not causing damage to the environment.
