Fundraising for the Chorale: “Let’s celebrate 50 years”

The Giuseppe Savani choir, a true artistic and cultural heritage for Carpi, turns 50 this year. An important milestone that the choir wants to celebrate with some significant events for the city and for which it asks for ‘help’ from the city itself, launching (in step with the times) a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds. “Fifty years is an important milestone for us – explains Villiam Stefani, president of the group for nine years and ‘bass’ for 38 years –. The choir was in fact founded in 1974 by Iolanda Battini and the teacher Luisa Cavazzoli: to date, which mixed choir has around 55 members, and has been directed since the mid-eighties by maestro Giampaolo Violi. To celebrate our first fifty years we are organizing a rich calendar of events, six in particular, which will take place between 2024 and 2024. 2025”.

“We want to do something for the city that lives up to expectations and with high-caliber guests – continues the president -. Not having found the response we were hoping for among the institutional bodies, we have ‘rolled up’ our sleeves and launched an appeal to the generosity of the citizens themselves, who in these years we have always ‘delighted’ with our music: every little help will be precious”. To contribute to the crowdfunding it is possible to make a donation to the choir’s current account (IT60T 02008 23307 0000 28474623). “To thank the most generous supporters – says Stefani – they will be offered a truly exclusive dinner-concert (in the reason for payment it is necessary to indicate a telephone number to be contacted if necessary), where we will alternate the dishes served at the table with the music”.

The first major event is scheduled for September, when the notes and voices of Vivaldi’s Gloria in D Major for soloists, choir and orchestra will fill the Cathedral of Carpi with charm and beauty, one of his first vocal compositions of sacred music , followed by contemporary composer Karl Jenkins’ Mass for Peace. The other major event that will close the fiftieth anniversary celebrations will be held in September 2025, in the Teatro Comunale: “The original show Il tempo di Savani – explains the president – conceived by Maestro Violi, was ready to be staged in 2020 on the occasion of one hundred years since Savani’s death but, unfortunately, Covid has forced us to postpone his debut. On stage, actors, dancers and choristers will tell the story of the life of Giuseppe Savani and Carpi at the end of the nineteenth century, also through videos and a silent short film made by us. “.
