“A year full of initiatives for the school” –

At the end of the school year, the Councilor for Educational Policies Chiara Facello summarized the main initiatives carried out which, as she stated, demonstrate the administration’s attention towards the world of school and education.

It’s been a year for our city’s schools– declares Facello – it was characterized by the revision of the entire system of educational circles but also by a whole series of initiatives that bear the signature of our Administration and which give a signal of the great attention we have paid to the world of school and education. Every compulsory school in Modica, every school has received the due and necessary attention from us because– underlines the councilor- we believe that school is the unique and fundamental basis on which to build certainties for future generations. We bet on this idea every day, convinced that only through a school that fully responds to the needs of students, teachers, management, staff and families can we achieve sincere certainties for our city.

There were many initiatives that we pushed for and which saw us as an institution, a driving force alongside managers and teachers. I like to remember it– continues Facello – one in particular which isMayor for a Day, a way we have chosen to let kids experience the ‘common’ seen from the inside. Through the Mayor, for one day we have accompanied small citizens to a lesson in democracy over the past few months. The meetings that took place in the council room made it possible to understand the functioning of the government bodies: the mayor, the council and the city council. The objective of the educational journey was to share their ideas and proposals for a city tailored to them. Mayor for a day involved schools from all over Modica, without whose support and availability it would not have been possible to experience this path of educational citizenship. Mayor for a day says that minors are capable of commitment and has given us a great opportunity: to listen to our kids!

So let’s ask ourselves how to respond to the free expression of thoughts of boys and girls and…see you next year! But also the invitation to poetry inevent dedicated to Mamma Bianca or the invitation to reading that we promoted with a series of events in the various schools of the city, in the schools of each of the areas frequented by the students. Or even some projects that we have completed (last but only in chronological order the gym in the central complex of Giacomo Albo, finally returned to the full use of the girls and boys of the school precisely in the days dedicated to the Sports Festival which animated the last hours of the school year). But also the meetings, the discussions, within school hours and outside; the many appointments shared with the managers and the punctual and orthodox responses that we gave for student transport, assistance for the disabled or for the canteen service. Which goes into the archives without a complaint, demonstrating that our choices were right and dedicated to respecting a healthy and good diet.

The list- concludes councilor Facello- it would be too long but it is a pleasure for me to close this first year of experience in the Department of Educational Policies, gaining good results, also appreciation for having taken advantage of the suggestions and having responded on time. The collaborative process continues without interruption and the foundations laid this year are those guidelines that will also guide us in the future, convinced that the Modican school is a flagship that we look at with special attention and that every choice will always be finalized to the common good and the affirmation of healthy and specific principles of good growth for our children”
