L’AQUILA – “In recent weeks I submitted a question to the City Council to understand the absurd choice to close the section of the Centenary Path under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of L’Aquila. This path is one of the most impervious but also most fascinating paths of the whole Gran Sasso, created in 1974 by the L’Aquila Section of the CAI to celebrate the centenary of its foundation”.

The opposition municipal councilor of the municipality of L’Aquila reported it, Lorenzo Rotellini.

The path is a route that touches the peaks of Brancastello, the Casanova Towers, Monte Informace, Monte Prena and Monte Camicia with a crest development of over 10km with unique panoramas and glimpses of the Apennines and sections equipped with ladders and steel cables. In recent weeks the Municipality has decided to follow the initiative of the Municipalities of Carapelle Calvisio and Castelvecchio Calvisio and that is to close the sections within its jurisdiction given the terrible conditions of the via ferratas.

The absurdity is that on the sections under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of L’Aquila, i.e. from Vado di Corno, passing through Monte Brancastello, arriving at the top of Vado del Pieverano, there are no equipped sections (via ferrata) that begin at the Casanova Towers (tract not under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of L’Aquila).
