“Support Cus Foggia and sport in the city”

The press conference ‘Support Sport, support Cus Foggia’, promoted by the University of Foggia and the Unifg University Sports Center, took place this morning in the council room of Palazzo Ateneo, with the participation of the vice-president of the Puglia Region, Raffaele Piedmontese and the councilor for sports policies of the Municipality of Foggia, Domenico Di Molfetta.

At the center of the sport valorization initiative is the appeal of the institutional representatives, addressed to the citizens, the territory and the entrepreneurial fabric, to support the competitive activities promoted by Cus Foggia. “Our university has always recognized the importance of sporting activities as an integral part of the educational and training experience of our students. Through sport we promote a healthy and active lifestyle but also health and physical well-being and offer opportunities unique for personal and professional development by helping students to strengthen the sense of community, teamwork, the spirit of fair competition. We firmly believe that investing in sport means investing in the training of complete individuals, ready to face future challenges with determination and competence. Hence my personal appeal to actively participate in the sporting activities and events promoted by the CUS but, above all, the invitation to support our teams to guarantee the necessary support in terms of equipment, facilities and participation in the championships. category as well as the annual sporting events. I take this opportunity to thank the Puglia Region, in particular the Vice President Raffaele Piemontese for the great and constant support that, in recent years, he has guaranteed to the University Sports Center in full awareness of the importance of sport. also as a tool for inclusion, socialization and integration for our young people” declared the Rector of the University of Foggia, Lorenzo Lo Muzio.

“Our teams have achieved important objectives and goals in recent years. Cus Foggia 5-a-side football, in 2022/2023, won the Puglia Cup and the promotion play-offs of the C2 regional championship. Having conquered C1 for the first time, our Rossoneri came close to a second consecutive promotion and played in the Final Four of the Puglia Cup. This season, however, we ended by celebrating the extraordinary victory of our basketball team, fresh from the first historic promotion to the next single Serie C. Results that tell the story of the efforts and commitments of our partnership, but today we need to involve the best resources in the area and build new synergies to consolidate the role of Cus Foggia in the area”.

This is the appeal of the Cussino president, Claudio Amorese. An appeal that finds further strength in the support guaranteed, today more than ever, by the University of Foggia. “Our sporting successes embellish a daily work made up of introductory courses in sport, inclusion paths, social and educational activities for the promotion of the values of sport. All this requires a huge human, educational and economic commitment, which is why we believe it is appropriate and decisive to involve local companies and entrepreneurs who want to become part of our team through profitable and calibrated sponsorship programs. An economic effort that will allow Cus Foggia to participate in the next regional and national championships and raise, with pride, talent and sense of belonging, the name of our University, of the city and of the entire territory of Capitanata”.

“I thank the Rector Lo Muzio and the President Amorese for this invitation to an initiative aimed on the one hand at celebrating the important results obtained by the athletes of the Sports Center of the University of Foggia, who continue to give us satisfaction in the various disciplines practiced with sacrifice, commitment and determination, and on the other hand to focus on the importance of raising funding, not only public but also private, aimed at supporting the Cus and the activities it promotes. As the Puglia Region, since 2015 we have increased funding tenfold in sports activities and also supported the Cus Foggia with an investment of 100 thousand euros for sports facilities that we must continue to strengthen, aware of what it means in terms of quality of life, territorial marketing and social context included in the Regional Operational Plan 2021-2027 measures in favor of the development of sports facilities as well as for the promotion of high profile sporting events and events with the aim of consolidating our modus operandi as an organization that knows how to give substance to commitments. And, on this occasion, I can only renew my personal commitment to making the collaboration with the University of Foggia ever more profitable, which turns 25 this year and which remains a stronghold for this city, for the Capitanata and for Puglia. fundamental cultural” declared the vice-president of the Puglia Region and councilor for Sport for All, Raffaele Piemontese.

This is the comment of councilor Domenico Di Molfetta: “In conveying the greetings of the mayor, Maria Aida Episcopo, I join in the thanks of the Piedmontese Vice President for the invitation to this initiative which underlines the great work that Cus Foggia is carrying out, making not only the University but also the City and Territory. Thanks to the support of the Puglia Region we have carried out important projects with the construction of sports facilities but it is necessary that alongside public funding there are private sponsorships. Only by teaming up can we guarantee our participation in national competitions and championships guaranteeing the standards in terms of equipment, facilities and services required by the sports federations, therefore, as a municipal administration, we join the call to financially support the Cus, confirming full collaboration in pursuing shared objectives aimed at improving the structures and services offered”.
