The kermesse from September 20th to 22nd. Ferraro: «It will tell the story of the harmony between vineyards and culture»

«Wine is culture, it is not just a drink. It’s part of the Italian way of life. The Trentodoc festival is this: the story of the harmony between the vineyards and culture, between the pleasure of being together and beauty.” Luciano Ferraro, deputy director of Corriere della Sera and Artistic Director of the festival, could not have described better the third edition of the Trentodoc festival which will take place in the Province from 20 to 22 September.

Over 40 events in the city

The program of the event, organized by Istituto Trento Doc and Trentino Marketing, in collaboration with the Corriere della Serawill be released in mid-July. In the meantime, the presentation of the event took place yesterday at the Edmund Mach Foundation. The presentation was attended by the provincial councilor for agriculture and promotion of Trentino products Giulia Zanotelli, the provincial councilor for tourism Roberto Failoni, the president of the Trento Doc Institute Stefano Fambri, the president of the Consorzio Vini del Trentino Albino Zenatti and the CEO of Trentino Marketing Maurizio Rossini.
Are expected over 40 events spread throughout the city of Trentosuch as the Wine Talks, the Sparkling stories (among the guests the conductor Beppe Vessicchio), the Cook tales and the tastings. But for the lovers of mountain bubbles it will also be possible to go to the origin of the wine: among the vineyards and in the cellars.

«A way to make the territory known»

In parallel with the Trentodoc festival, the Trentodoc in the Cellar will be held, 97 events organized by 42 sparkling wine houses to get to know the producers directly and taste the wine. But also trekking, listening to music and seeing art exhibitions. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to make known what we do and an opportunity to open our company to the public,” said a producer during the presentation. There are a total of 67 sparkling wine houses that make up the Istituto Trento Doc. «During the festival we will be in full harvest — said Fambri —, 43 wineries have joined the initiative and this means that there is great attention and involvement from everyone». Last year the Consortium grew by 3% and recorded a turnover of 185 million euros. «Trento Doc is the flagship of our production — said Zenatti — because it drives our sector which from an economic point of view gives great results. This wine is an image of the territory that is brought outside».

A driving force for tourism

The festival is now in its third edition and to think that at the beginning, as Ferraro said, “there was hesitation”. Instead the event turned out to be a important driver for tourism: last year it welcomed eight thousand people, double compared to the first edition. «The best answer to questions about the division between agriculture and tourism is this festival – explained Failoni -. We manage to bring people to Trento from all over Italy and also from abroad. Our goal is to have tourists throughout the year and we can do this thanks to events. We still have a huge space in the food and wine sector.” Less than three months and bubbles enthusiasts will be able to start uncorking the bottles.
