He engraved his name in a domus of the Pompeii excavations and was reported. It happened this morning to a tourist from Kazakhstan. The security and reception staff of the Pompeii Archaeological Park stopped him: the man was engraving the letters “Ali” on light plaster in the Ceii house. The tourist will now have to answer for the charges for the damage caused to the property.
The director of the archaeological park: “Uncivilized act”
The restorers and coordination staff intervened on site for the technical evaluations. “Uncivilized act, thanks to the new law desired by Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano the perpetrator of the crime will have to pay for the restoration of the wall. Well done to the collaborators of the Ministry and the Ales company who promptly intervened. Excellent collaboration with the Carabinieri who we thank for their promptness.” This is the comment of the Park director, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, after the incident.
Sangiuliano: “Severely punish the perpetrator of the disfigurement”
“Unfortunately, even today we find ourselves commenting on an uncivilized and idiotic disfigurement caused to our artistic and cultural heritage. After the Roman domus of the Herculaneum archaeological park was smeared with an indelible marker, this time there is an engraving on the light plaster in the house of Ceii in Pompeii”. These, however, are the words of the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano. This is, he added, “a very serious act that will have to be prosecuted severely and, also thanks to the new law that I strongly supported, the perpetrator will be forced to repay the costs of fully restoring the damage caused. I thank the workers of the Mic and of Ales for promptly intervening and the Carabinieri who immediately stopped the tourist responsible for this vile gesture”, he concluded.
