The multinational has requested the cancellation of the ordinance for the environmental remediation and restoration of the areas outside the Spinetta Marengo chemical complex.
Syensqo appeals to the TAR
It will come to the attention of the Regional Administrative Court of Piedmont the case relating to thereclamation order and environmental restoration of areas outside the chemical center of Spinetta Marengo promulgated by Province of Alexandria: it is the multinational Syensqo to have announced the appeal to the TAR, requesting the annulment of the ordinance in question.
At the beginning of May Syensqo had contested the fact that the groundwater contamination derive from “any liability to Solvay”rejecting “the equalization between Edison and Solvay/Syensqo regarding the responsibilities for the pollution of the aquifer due to an alleged ineffectiveness of the hydraulic barrier, an ineffectiveness which is denied in the administrative reclamation process itself”.
According to Solvay/Syensqo – we read in a note – the hydraulic barrier created obtained an “real cleanup of historical pollution”in the light of “thousands of analyzes and checks collected periodically for over 12 years by the institutions and by Solvay/Syensqo” That “they have ascertained for a long time now, as recognized by ARPA itself, the clear and continuous decrease in groundwater concentrations of all contaminants which have fallen to the lowest historical values ever recorded”.
