All ready for Italian Under 14 Cup, the summer event of the women’s basketball league dedicated to the youth sector. The 2024 edition will take place from today, Sunday 23, to Saturday 29 June in Costa Masnaga and Moncalieri, with the Final Four hosted by the Masnaga town at the “Costa Dome” in via Verdi.
A sign of continuity compared to the last edition, also held in the same municipalities, Moncalieri and Costa Masnaga. In that case with the final stages in the Piedmontese town at the PalaEinaudi. The event, organized by Lbf with the support of the Italian Basketball Federation and in collaboration with Basket Costa and Libertas Moncalieri, will celebrate its third edition in 2024, as a sign of important attention towards grassroots sport and the youngest practitioners. Important attention dedicated to the base, also from a media point of view with all-round coverage of Lbf, from social media to streaming.
In 2022 the inaugural edition of the Italian U14 Cup was hosted by Florence. The Tuscan city, with the Florence Basketball Academy, is also the trophy holder in the last two editions, with an exhilarating double after two events that proved to be successful in terms of participation, enthusiasm and involvement. Florence will participate again this year, with the denomination Florence women’s basketball.
The participant pool, also this season, is quite large with 17 teams. There are eight regions represented. Lombardy And Piedmont are the leaders, with four representatives each, particularly the presence of theAzzurra Cercola which will be the southernmost team represented in the competition. A regional selection will also take part in the tournament, that of Trentino Alto Adige made up of several clubs, in its third participation in as many editions.
The formula is the successful one confirmed by previous editions: four groups, with group C made up of five teams. The first teams enter directly into the quarter-finals, the second and third teams will play a “barrage” for access to the top eight, followed by direct clashes to decide the winner of the Tournament, which includes, among other things, individual laurels such as the Best Quintet and the title of MVP. She was the outgoing MVP last year Martina Pasqualetti of Florence, in the first edition Francesca Baldassarrewho will play in A1 next season with the Battipaglia shirt.
All matches will be followed in streaming on the official YouTube channels of Moncalieri Basketball (for the matches in Piedmont) and Basket Costa (for the matches in Lombardy). The Final Four will be broadcast by Lbf TV – www.flima.tv free of charge.
