CARRARA – «By observing the Exagon work in detail, thanks also to the attention of some Facebook friends, we found the Star of David (we circled it with the yellow line) – as seen in the photo above, ed – and skulls are placed all around. Contrary to what Domenico Raimondi stated, however, this is not a provocation for war in the Middle East but a very serious anti-Semitic initiative.” These are the words of the city councilor Simone Caffaz who intervenes on what happened in the last few days at Eugenio Biselli’s work located in front of the Academy of Fine Arts in White Carrara.
«The star – continues Caffaz – is in fact not blue, as in the Israeli flag, but of another color and, as such, represents the Jews and Judaism and not just Israel. A Star of David surrounded by skulls: a gesture of extreme anti-Semitism that has not been seen since the days of Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda and against which the whole city must mobilize. I obviously point out that the skulls were not placed by the designer Eugenio Biselli who designed and created the work, but by unknown persons who used it, depriving it of its meaning and attributing a racist and unacceptable one to it. I expect a clear and unequivocal position from the mayor and all the political forces and a complaint against unknown persons from the municipal administration and the curator of the exhibition Domenico Raimondi.”
