Tour de France, the 4th stage Pinerolo-Valloire: the route and where to follow it on TV

PINEROLO – The Tour de France leaves Italian soil after three stages: the fourth stage, after starting in Pinerolo, will cross the Alps to finally arrive in Valloire, after 139.6 km of racing. Three Grand Prix of the Mountain are scheduled. The last is the beloved, legendary Galibier.

Path

The group will start from Pinerolo and immediately head towards the Alps. The Sestriere will be climbed immediately: a false flat of 39.9 km, with an average gradient of 3.7 percent, which becomes a real climb only in the finale. The Gpm will be followed by the descent that will take the race to Cesana Torinese.

There, after 61 km, the second climb of the day will begin, the equally simple one of Monginevro, 8.3 km, with an average gradient of 5.9 percent. Once at the top, the race will leave Italian soil and enter French territory, with the descent towards Briançon. From there, the road that leads to the summit of the Col du Galibier and which also passes over the Col du Lautaret.

The summit of the Galibier will be the second highest point reached in this Tour, with the top being at 2642 meters, after 23 km of ascent, without any particular points of hardness in double figures, but always constant (5.1 percent the average figure).
