Brembio (Lodi) – He was just 18 years old Pierpaolo Bodini, crushed to death from a machine in the Lodi countryside. “He was doing what he loved most”the mother said, almost shouting, shocked through tears Monica Boccardi, in front of the gates of the company that hired his son a year ago. He asked the CGIL trade unionists to remove the banner posted at the gates of theBassanetti company of Brembio with which they denounced yet another tragedy at work. He begged to respect his pain.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning: according to an initial reconstruction, when he lost his life, the boy was engaged in maintenance of a seeder. The 18-year-old was on the ground. A pin suddenly came loose and hit him, killing him instantly. It happened before the eyes of a colleague of 20 yearsshock assistance.

The Lodi Prosecutor’s Office did not order an autopsy on the body and returned the body to the family to allow the boy’s funeral. The machinery was instead seized to allow theAts Milan to carry out investigations. The intention is to try to understand if it had any faults or if some parts had been assembled badly enough to cause themortal accident.

The death of the very young agricultural worker of Brembiowhich also leaves dad Leandroan industrial baker in the town, and his 19-year-old sister, has shaken the community of Lower Lodigiano. “You have been working here for a year – says the mayor Oriana Ghidotti –, he had decided to dedicate himself to the land, in countryside like ours, where people like Pierpaolo are very precious, because agriculture here is still a source of income for many. A great loss. Pierpaolo had a healthy passion and deserves our respect. We are all shocked and will declare city mourning.”

A word also for the owners of the farm: “It’s sorry for them too, we all know each other here and the pain is common. They are shocked.” On social media the 18 years old he often posted images of agricultural vehicles and machinery. Since I was a child the dream of ‘Bodo’ was to work in this sector. A passion that betrayed him.

There CGIL of Lodi, after removing the banner, “to respect the understandable wishes of the mother”, he remarked that he was there out of solidarity “with the family members, with the young worker, who died at a young age”. There were trade unionists Guido Scarpino and Matteo Morganti: “It gets worse and worse, we need to talk about it. We arrived immediately to report a massacre that shows no signs of stopping. There is a lack of controls, training and inspectors and incisive sanctions. Especially in agriculture, which records 8,000 accidents a year, of which 300 are fatal”. “It is a serious phenomenon in a complicated sector – said Scarpino –, where heavy loads are moved, there are risks in irrigation and in the cultivation of fields, but also in the maintenance of the vehicles”. The funeral will be tomorrow at 2.30 pm in Borghetto Lodigiano, in the church of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle.
