On the morning of June 12th, the policemen of the Mazara del Vallo police station have implemented the order for the application of a precautionary measure issued by the Court of Marsala, Office of the Judge for Preliminary Investigations, with which the measure of house arrest was ordered against a citizen of Mazara, born in 1966, as he was seriously suspected of the crime of aggravated robbery committed on May 12th at the “San Vito” Pharmacy located in Corso Vittorio Veneto in Mazara del Vallo.

In particular, at approximately 7:00 pm on May 12th, a misrepresented person wearing a peaked cap and fleece hood, broke into the San Vito Pharmacy and loudly ordered the two shop assistants present to hand over the money from the till. A second subject, with a distorted face, acted as a pole and remained immediately outside the business, near the door.

The two shop assistants managed to escape into the street and call the single emergency number 112. Since the pharmacy is equipped with automatic cash registers, the two criminals were unable to remove money and, shortly afterwards, fled in the direction of Via Santa Maria di Gesù. The police station police squad promptly intervened on the spot.

The judicial police investigations, immediately started by the investigative section of the Mazarese police station, consisted of the scrupulous and timely acquisition and examination of the video-recorded images from the pharmacy’s video surveillance system, made it possible to identify with absolute certainty, in the person of a well-known criminal from Mazara, one of the perpetrators of the robbery who had remained unknown until then.

The latter was referred to the AG for the crime of aggravated robbery in competition with the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Marsala which, sharing the investigative conclusions of the PS Commissioner, requested the competent GIP for the precautionary measure against him.
