Last weekend the Gold Stage of the Italian Triathlon Championship in Bellaria – Igea Marina (RN) where an Olympic distance race took place (1.5 km swimming – 40 km cycling – 10 km running).
Almost 500 athletes at the start, the first part of swimming in the sea with an atypical route designed among the rocks and six directional buoys, then by bike in the hinterland of Bellaria with a somewhat “rough” and tortuous route that made selection and finally race in the center of the Romagna town where the temperature rose to over 30°C and put the athletes’ resistance to the test.
There were truly numerous Ferrara Triathlon athletes, 33 and many podiums were also achieved.
Let’s start with the women where Arianna Romagnoli placed second overall with a great performance and Elena Stegani Vergoni of CUS Ferrara completed the party on the third step of the podium.
The terrible Este girls also conquered 1st and 3rd place in Category M1 with Paula Milani Bertola and Michela Venturi, a prestigious 4th place in Category M2 for Anita Bergamini, but they all deserve a mention, Roberta Scabbia of CUS Ferrara was also very good 1st in Category M3 and Lia La Barbera from Ferrara Triathlon and Longhi Margherita from CUS Fe also crossed the finish line.
Among the men, the best among the Ferrarese was Giovanni Bergonzoni who placed 14th overall and second in Category S3, 3rd step of the M2 podium for Massimo Valentini and 3rd in Category M5 for the veteran Fabio Foresti. The race ends with Vitali M., Coreggioli, Vitali P., Franchini, Mantovani, Travagli, Barbieri, Boiocchi, Quintabà, Astori, Pupeschi, Cerchiai, Chiossi, Neri, Lazzari, Pirisi, Ferrioli, Longhi, Bottoni, Mangherini, Grassi, Fari , Benetti and Tieghi. Unlucky Spinello and Benazzi were forced to retire due to a puncture and an injury respectively.
