Saint-Marcoul Chapel 33 rue Brulée, 51100 Reims Reims 51100 Marne Grand Est [{« type »: « phone », « value »: « 06.34.24.76.02 »}, {« type »: « email », « value »: « [email protected] »}] The Saint-Marcoul Chapel is all that remains of the Saint-Marcoul Hospital, known as the Hospice des Incurables, founded by Marguerite Rousselet in the 17th century. During royal coronations, the kings of France, retreating to the Saint-Remi Abbey, stopped at Saint-Marcoul to apply the traditional rite of scrofula: “The King touches you, God heals you”.

The current 19th century chapel (the previous one having been destroyed during the Revolution) has columns with beautifully crafted capitals (Corinthian trend) which line the side walls. The east wall is decorated with a blind semi-circular arch; the sculpted arch is supported by three columns with capitals. In addition, you can admire the ribbed vaults which adorn the ceiling. The North and South walls are pierced with large double bay windows, also in a Roman arch. The chapel has a sort of decorated mezzanine where you can discover a colorful stained glass window.

Today, the Chapelle Saint-Marcoul is a place of influence for contemporary dance in Reims and the Champagne-Ardenne region. Designed as a place of production and support for contemporary dance creators, the Choreographic Laboratory offers support for the creations of tomorrow.
