Friday 21 June 2024 at 9.15pm, at the University Theater Center of Ferrara (via Savonarola 19) the theater show will be staged “The Land of Miracles”final event of the seventh edition of the “Theatre and well-being” project, aimed at people with neurodegenerative diseases, family and non-family caregivers, with the participation of university students, promoted by the Municipality of Ferrara, Department of Social Policies, and the collaboration of the University Theater Center of Ferrara.
The project is directed by Michalis Traitsisdirector and theater pedagogue of Balamòs Teatro with the artistic collaboration of Patrizia Ninu. From the first edition to today, there is a common thread underlying the path and the choice of themes of the final event, and it is the search for a map of relationships that goes beyond a grouping of people, which alludes to bonds and authentic, supportive sharing, which takes care of the urgency of a common journey understood as a journey towards the integration of one’s being with one’s qualities and fragility, riches and poverty, lights and shadows, towards the achievement of mutual acceptance based on patience, trust, mutual understanding, delicacy.
And since the final event is usually the set of threads that come together in an embroidery, in a tapestry, the privileged theme – whether it is a condominium or a square or a radio – can only be that of research of belonging, of sociability, of resistance to today’s disintegration of community relations.
These reflections gave rise to the choice of the village festival, as an opportunity for aggregation, interaction and joy. Like the festivals of the past, where the musicians, preceded by the maestro, opened the celebrations by parading through the streets of the town to invite people to the party and accompanying the patron saint of the town itself.
The Saint of “The country of miracles” is particular, she does not have a name, perhaps not even a face and is depicted with sheets hung, thrown, cared for. She is the patron saint of stories and the evening will be dedicated to her, through a festival in which each inhabitant will be a storyteller and will give the community a story. One who made him cry or laugh or disconsolate or poison, it doesn’t matter, because stories are still miracles. For those who read them, for those who write them, for those who listen to them.
The show is dedicated to all those who are no longer there, or who cannot be there, but who continue to be presences impossible to forget.
