Bellagio confirms itself as a well-known and appreciated destination throughout Italy and ranks 12th in the Small Cities 2024 ranking, which lists the 30 Italian locations with fewer than 5000 inhabitants most searched for online.
The ranking, published by the holiday booking portal Holidu, takes into account the average monthly search volume relating to 2023 on Google, using as keywords “what to do in” and “what to see in” plus the very name of the Italian municipalities with a population resident of less than 5000 inhabitants.
It is not surprising that the beautiful municipality of Bellagio is among the top 30 tourist and cultural destinations in our country.

What to do in Bellagio

Bellagio is famous for its truly exclusive geographical position: the village is located on the northern end of the Lariano Triangle, right at the point where the two branches of Lake Como depart. Surmounted by the Alps, this enchanting municipality is one of the most visited places in the Como area, together with Blevio and Descio.
The territory of Bellagio is quite large and presents an incredible variety of landscapes and naturalistic views due to its peculiar position, straddling the hills, the lake coast and the Alps.
Those who love the mountains can go to the highest peaks in the area: Monte San Primo, Monte Palanzone and the Corni di Canzo.
Those who prefer architecture will undoubtedly visit its enchanting Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi, famous throughout the world for their splendor and well-kept gardens.
The historic center is also worth a visit which, with its numerous shops located along narrow stepped streets, passages and porticoes, is renowned throughout the world and attracts thousands of tourists every year.

How much does a holiday on Lake Como cost

Bellagio was one of the first Italian tourist resorts to become truly international. This also affected prices, which are not always cheap. According to the Holidu ranking, the average price for a night in Bellagio is 196 euros. However, it will be enough to scroll through the ranking to realize that there are Small Cities that are much more expensive: in Positano and Portofino, for example, accommodation costs an average of 777 and 407 euros per night! However, in Italy there are beautiful towns for all budgets. Let’s mention for example Pitigliano and Scilla, where you spend just over 100 euros per night, or Castel del Monte in Abruzzo which with an average of 100 euros per night is the cheapest destination in the top 30!
