In the investigation into the murder of Pierina Paganelli the challenge is now on DNA tests. Because the times and ways of how the crime scene finds were “contaminated” will tell a lot about how things went on the evening of October 3rd in Via del Ciclamino. The experts to whom the defense of Louis Dassilva, the only suspect for the murder of the 78-year-old, turned are convinced of this.
The lawyer Riario Fabbri has in fact requested the collaboration of the well-known criminologist Roberta Bruzzone. The expert has prepared the questions that the lawyer Fabbri will present to the investigating judge’s office between tonight and tomorrow (Wednesday) at the same time as the request for an evidentiary hearing. “We will ask to expand the clinical trials both in terms of time and methods”, the lawyer Fabbri specified. It means that out of the 15 exhibits in the hands of the medical examiner appointed by the Prosecutor’s Office and therefore of the scientific police, the defense will also want to know how the contamination occurred and when, if any, it occurred.
The contamination they are looking for, obviously, is Louis Dassilva’s DNA and the defense’s request is to know how it possibly ended up on the victim’s bag, clothes or underwear and, above all, when. Provided that the DNA gives an affirmative answer, because in the battle of laboratory tests what is not there is sometimes worth more than what is found.
