The Diocesan Council of Lay Aggregations (CDAL) of Aversa officially has a new secretary since yesterday: in the setting of the Episcope of Aversa, in the presence of the Bishop Monsignor Angelo Spinillo, of the spiritual assistant Don Bartolo Puca and of the representatives of the associations, movements and lay groups present on the board, on Monday 17 June 2024 there was the handover between Maria Luisa Coppola and Antonio Scalzone.
The outgoing secretary, who until last year also held the position of president of the Serra Club Aversa, outlined the relevant moments of the past decade, recalling the events organised, the spiritual journey guided by the priests who followed one another over time, of the period pandemic when, in the absence of face-to-face meetings, new technology was used by introducing remote courses. “The diocesan Board of Directors invited the movements present in the city of Aversa, involving them in the discussion of social issues of particular interest. In the spirit of broad sharing, of convinced and motivated participation, the CDAL participated in the conferences sponsored by the Diocese for the Synod, which opened a serious reflection on ecclesial life in a world that changes rapidly and requires expanded welcoming spaces from the globalization of systems, technology, artificial intelligence and human globalization. On these very challenging topics, which also require a radical revision of our associative methods and a profound examination of conscience when they involve moral and ethical questions, various meetings were held with the presence of our Bishop Angelo Spinillo and the spiritual assistant Don Bartolo Puca”.
These are the first words of the new secretary Antonio Scalzone, who is part of the Secular Franciscan Order: “The example of those who preceded me demonstrates how important the service that has been entrusted to me is. I sincerely hope to be up to it and to make the most of the wealth of activities and experiences accumulated over all these years. The consultation represents the synthesis of all the lay realities based in our territory which have faith in Christ in common and each express it according to their own particular charism. We must persevere and insist on bringing to light all the richness, industriousness and creativity of all these expressions of faith and human ingenuity aimed at building the kingdom of God on earth, in the Church and with the Church in a fruitful dialogue of apostolic creativity.”
