We are receiving many memberships which, from time to time, will be added. “In view of the next run-off for the municipal elections, we, who have so far kept a low profile out of institutional respect, we feel the duty to react with disdain to the false and unjust accusations that the right is throwing at the candidate Vittoria Ferdinandi, a renowned clinical psychologist, not only by sending posts to their certain voters, but by addressing Catholics more generally. She la she accuses herself of everything that might upset doubting believers, from being an advocate of childbearing for others to being against natural parenting. Without stooping to the squalid level of those who try to stir up crusades, we believe it is now the duty of good people to remember that they have completely missed the target.
With subdued but firm tones, we remember that candidate Ferdinandi has witnessed very high values in her life, which transcend belonging to this or that church and should belong to all of humanity. With great entrepreneurial and human ability, he gave life to a project of excellence, the Numero Zero restaurant, which offered a group of young people with mental health problems a concrete possibility of social and work inclusion and personal fulfillment, while educating citizens themselves not to be afraid of diversity.
This made her deserve the title of Knight of Merit, awarded to her by President Mattarella. On that occasion the Mayor Romizi (now not inclined to remind his own words to his more agitated ones), in an official statement from the Municipality, he claimed that “the prestigious recognition of Vittoria Ferdinandi by President Mattarella fills us with pride”; he acknowledged Ferdinandi’s “incessant commitment to social issues”, which he defined as “fundamental” for the Municipality, and suitable for confirming “how Perugia is a hotbed of talent capable of representing our city at the highest level”. We therefore ask the people of Perugia to remember these words of appreciation, expressed in unsuspecting times and not the electoral falsehoods of the right.
Vittoria Ferdinandi is also the only one of the two candidates to have repeatedly recalled the values of peace and non-violence, promoting the idea of Perugia as the capital of dialogue and conciliation between peoples. Citizens of common sense, escaping the subtle and mendacious flattery, will remember that, in light of Ferdinandi’s life commitment, his opponent was part of a council that cut funding for soup kitchens, which interrupted services such as hot water for the homeless (al CvA Rimbocchi), which closed the consultation of foreign communities, isolating immigrants in their ghettos. Whoever wants can remember the words that the Scriptures attribute to the Supreme Judge: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was naked and you clothed me”. This way it will be easy to understand who has best interpreted these values in their own lives and can therefore do so for the entire city.”
