Will be Piazza del Mercato is the nerve center of Brescia’s summer events: from 28 June until September «Brescia d’estate 2024» will transform this place «into a cultural salon, to enhance its beauty and atmosphere», as explained by the mayor Laura Castelletti. In fact, the program hosts some appointments from various exhibitions alongside various ad hoc events.
Music
On June 28th at 7.30 pm we start with a musical show, which is the last date of the event «Labadabajazz» curated byLaba Academy. On stage there will be 60 students from the Luca Marenzio Conservatory, Liceo Gambara and IC Centro 1 who will perform with Carmelo Coglitore, Corrado Guarino, Giacomo Papetti, Davide Bussoleni and Marco Alesi.
The other musical events will be those on July 14th with «Cat Freddy Cat» by Jazz Team Brescia; the one on July 19th with «The look 4tet» (inserted in Jazz on the Road); the ethnic duo from the Marche region Kanuteh-Zanotti for Glocal Sound on 31 July; and two crossover events with other festivals («San Rocco in Musica» in Bagolino on 20 July and Etno-Tracce in Franciacorta on 29 July with the Mario Tiraboschi Trio, both previews of their respective programmes).
Theater
Theatrical events will take place at the beginning of July, starting with those of Teatro19: on July 1st at 9.30pm their production «Fu wounded» will talk about a common battle of some women, each driven by a personal motivation; on July 2, however, the companion Geometria delle Nuvole will perform at the same time in «Graal», with a female Parsifal to discuss weapons, wars, the sacred and the profane. On 3 July Chiara Becchimanzi will propose at 9pm «Group therapy», a flow of consciousness on idiosyncrasies, while on 10 July «The dirty cloud» by and with Giulio Cavalli will talk about the Icmesa disaster in Seveso.
On July 12th at 9pm the theater will be for families: Minima Teatro will perform «Peter Pan», a show about three brothers who find themselves in a house from the past, reliving their childhood games and stories. The comedian Laura Formenti will be in Piazza del Mercato on July 13th at 9pm with «Drama queen», a tragicomic monologue on human worries.
Walks
«Brescia d’Estate 2024» is completed with «Brescia, curious city», series of unconventional walks in the city between 26 June and 12 September in collaboration with «Arte con noi», «Bidibrescia», «Bresciastory» «Artistic guide», «Oltre il tondino», «Scopribrescia», «Cieli Vibranti» (with literary walks), «Associazione Speleologica Bresciana» and «Brescia Underground ». Among others there will be a tour of Carmine, one regarding the city’s homosexual scene from repression to the present day, an urban safari, the history of One thousand milesa visit to the luthiers’ district and themed walks «Brescia scandalosa» and «Brescia horror».
All events are free and open (the complete schedule can be consulted on the website of the Municipality of Brescia, together with the booking methods for walks and visits) and in case of bad weather they will be moved to the San Barnaba Auditorium in Corso Magenta 44.
