Summer time for arenas: cinema moves (also) to outdoor spaces which this year are spreading to various areas of the city to offer film from the last season and some classics for the city public and tourists, often with free admission (or with low prices) and with a careful eye on the weather, which – hopefully – should soon see the arrival of real summer weather in Turin too.

In via Di Nanni
Double date tonight (the films always start when it gets dark, so this season never before 9.30pm): in the pedestrian areas in via Di Nanni there is an animated film suitable for all families, the funny one “Zootopia”, set in the city of the same name, a modern metropolis very different from any other place because it welcomes animals of all kinds, in which a frail police officer will try to find her space; from Comala you can see it in Corso Ferrucci 65/a “Tangerine”interesting work by Sean Baker, niche director but capable of obtaining great international success with his films and winner of the Palme d’Or at the last Cannes festival. Both screenings are free of charge.

Monday 17 June
Monday evening you can return from Comala with “Breakfast on Pluto” by Neil Jordan, while Tuesday is the most varied day of the week with three arenas available: at House in the San Salvario neighborhood in via Morgari in Portofranco there is even a preview, that of the curious French film “The syndrome of past loves” (here is a ticket, from €3.50), while from Wishing for the moon in via Trivero auteur cinema finds space with “Mudar la vita” by Tonino De Bernardi, the protagonist in recent weeks of an exhibition dedicated to him by the Cinema Museum (the third proposal is also from Comala: “Tomboy” by Celine Sciamma, proposed like the other films in this first block of screenings by the Lovers Film Festival). The season of another important city space, the Monterosa arena in via Brandizzo, begins on Wednesday 19 June Milan barrier: the chosen film it’s “I Captain” by Matteo Garrone (tickets €3.50), nominated for an Oscar as best international film.

And then slowly in the summer the other spaces will also open: Tuesday 25th will be the turn of Cascina Roccafranca in Mirafiori Nord andArena Manin in Vanchiglietta, Wednesday 26th of the Public Baths in via AgliéThursday 27 of the House in the Mirafiori South Park and so on, to complete a city map rarely so widespread in every corner of the city.
