An appeal for the development of the three Calabrian airports

We constantly witness forms of municipal parochialism that do not even spare the image of the modern represented by regional airports.
In Calabria, there are three, in a magnificent example of union, to link areas of different size and social projection, demonstrating a formula that can be capable of standing up to the future, for its own relaunch, valid for carrying forward the color and the warmth of history, where its basis is a tradition, certainly not industrial, but exclusively an impulse, told and experienced, of nature, environment, ecology, culture and tourism.
The beginning of this note is certainly a note with the flavor of the romanticism of dreams that can become reality, as long as the mind stops venturing into endless and lightless labyrinths, to try, selfishly, to elevate localities at the expense of others ( perhaps as a political-party and electoral act) following a stale feudal dictate.
For a time that is rapidly moving forward, the Calabrian aviation sector can have its own development role, to make the distances less distant from the center and from the rest of the world. But we cannot continue, allow us, to follow the ideas that everyone puts in place, for their own backyard, forgetting about others and, sorry for the inelegant term, not caring about the entire community.
Ours is an airport triangle that carries out, between changes, closures and openings, a service of connections creating a specific movement for user pockets of diversified existence.
We are therefore shocked by certain statements and would like to remind everyone that the airport structure must be based on the concept of a triangle, without digressions of any kind. Let’s not make a fuss about it, we would be failing in the concept of the sector by denying the principle of the general usefulness of local flights.
We cannot cancel the formula of the aeronautical dictate which has always had in its flow the life of the structures, improving their function and projection, establishing, ministerially, opening and closing times of daily functionality and intervention for any faults or adjustment work.
It would be logical for the management of the Handling body to meticulously take care of the entire airport area of its management, making itself felt with its presence; proposing improvements and adjustments, acquiring suggestions from the base who, on a daily basis, live and work in the structures directly in contact with the aerial existence and not entrenched behind a desk. However, we notice a total silence on the progress of the airport service, at this point, give ourselves some space and want to enlighten ourselves, where has the ideology of work gone? Where has the futuristic of the aircraft gone?
Enough with thoughts that have no place, except to give rise to yet another vehicle of resentment and offend the collective intellect; There are three airports, with different roles but all useful for our needs.
Rather, it would be logical and socially constructive for the region to create shuttle connections close to flight times, both departing and arriving. at the moment, those who use the plane, in most cases, must reach the regional airports by their own means.
We suggest to Governor Occhiuto that he put an end to geographical games and truly commit himself to the active, productive and functional realization of our three airports, considering that the surface road and rail road transport is long and expensive.

We conclude by thanking the UGL Air Transport Calabria and its regional secretary Giuseppe Di Cello for their ability to understand the airport issues and problems, continuing to protect both Crotone, Lamezia and Reggio, without distinction of political-party geography, but for the actual good of the community.
