The new speed cameras of the Province of Latina will come into operation on June 24th on the road axis under the authority’s responsibility, in order to control speed on the highest risk roads.

The installation of the three speed camera stations was completed in the last few hours in the existing sites of the S.R. 630 Ausonia km 26+890 dir. Cassino – road limit 70 km/h, of the SP 46 Litoranea km 10+200 towards Latina – road limit 60 km/h and of the SP 46 Litoranea km 7+700 towards Sabaudia – road limit 60 km/h.

The instant speed meters will guarantee the effectiveness of the control system and, like the previous ones, in accordance with the adaptation of the legislation, will allow faster management of the stations under the responsibility of the Provincial Police. All the stations are appropriately marked with signs at 1000, 400 and 200 metres, in addition to direct signaling on the poles on which the detectors are installed.

This is just one of the tools through which the Authority is committed to increasing the safety of the provincial road network, through targeted interventions that range from the planning of a maintenance plan for the road axis, to information and training up to the sanctioning system such as deterrent against offenders.

“Instant speed monitors are a tool with which we want to help make our roads safer. Road safety is now a topic that affects our news in a tragic way. As a Province, we must not only pay attention to accident data, but activate all the tools needed to create a new safety culture that makes citizens responsible for the responsibility they, as drivers, have on the road. Speed cameras are not just a system for fining those who do not respect speed limits, but are created with the aim of limiting it, inviting those who drive to respect the rules of the highway code. We often take for granted that users know the code that regulates traffic or the consequences of habits that put safety at risk on a daily basis. The awareness that a real street culture is missing pushed me as President to want an awareness campaign for citizens, financed thanks to the proceeds from sanctions. We need road users to begin to be aware of how their choices and bad habits affect the lives of others and how a few seconds of distraction or an illegal speed can erase everything in an instant.”

The “With Guido you make the road” awareness campaign, officially presented last month, will be developed shortly and will have as its primary objective to draw attention to the risks of the road. This enriches the Province’s actions for road safety and the diffusion of responsible behavior that limits existing risk factors.
