Is expected for Tuesday 18 June the delivery of the keys of Cascina Vecchia by the Municipality to the consortium of private operators led by Open Baladin, and also made up of Cuneo srl, MEG Mercato Enogastronomico srl and Sant’Onorato Società Cooperativa, to which the building has been entrusted under concession for the next 20 years. The completion works of the recovery project of the historic structure in San Rocco Castagnaretta, dating back to 1400, have been completed and the set-up phase can now begin, with the aim of opening by the beginning of next year.
In the intentions of the Municipality, Cascina Vecchia will become a cultural and recreational centre, with activities linked to the history of the place and the relationship between man and the earth, its sustainability and a part intended for hospitality and commercial purposes connected to the rural world. The structure will include a museum area (in the smaller block), a space dedicated to catering (on the ground floor of the larger building) with a large garden and outdoor area, which can also be used for educational events with schools and a dedicated on the upper floor for conferences and conventions.
The works, which began already in 2020 and financed with 2.5 million from the Suburbs Call, had a considerable delay compared to the opening initially scheduled for summer 2023, due to further work that emerged and was deemed necessary during the intervention. At the end of May, the Municipality and private individuals signed the variation to the concession contract stipulated in 2022 in which the “postponement” of the start of the twenty-year concession to the date of the new modification agreement was established (and therefore no longer from 2022). The fee has been confirmed (42,420 euros per year, reduced by 30% in the first three years) which will have to be paid starting when the structure is operational.
