The resolution arrives, Torre del Greco is to all intents and purposes a “tourist city”

Torre del Greco, one of the most populous cities in Campania, has officially obtained the status of “tourist city”. This recognition, approved through a resolution of the municipal council, represents a significant turning point for the local community and opens the way to new opportunities for development and valorisation of the territory.

The Meaning of the Resolution
Mayor Luigi Mennella underlined the importance of this decision: «A necessary decision of great importance for our city, as it will allow us to promote a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing our territory, as well as allowing us to be able to appeal to specific funding dedicated precisely to the development of the tourist offer”. With these words, Mennella highlighted the immediate and future advantages deriving from the status of a tourist city.

The Classification Criteria
The classification of Torre del Greco as a tourist city is based on criteria established by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and implemented by the Campania Region. There are two main criteria considered:

Prevalent Tourist Category: This measures the potential tourist vocation of the municipality, taking into account geographical factors (such as proximity to the sea and altitude) and anthropic factors (such as the urban dimension).

Tourist Density: This is expressed through various municipal statistical indicators which evaluate the presence of infrastructure, tourist flows and the local incidence of productive activities and employment levels in the tourism and cultural sector.

The Opportunities for Torre del Greco
The recognition of Torre del Greco as a tourist city offers numerous advantages. First of all, it allows the city to access specific funding for tourism development, which can be used to improve infrastructure, promote cultural events and attract a greater number of visitors both from Italy and abroad.

Furthermore, this status strengthens the position of Torre del Greco among the places of tourist interest in the province of Naples, equating it with other municipalities already recognized for their geographical and cultural attractions.
