Alberto Matassini will be the head coach of Nuova Pallacanestro Treviso for the 2024/2025 season. The coach from the Marche region will lead the Orange team for the second consecutive year after the sensational results of the last championship which ended in fifth place in the standings and with the conquest of a historic playoff semi-final.
Born in 1988, Matassini is one of the most successful coaches in the category, and despite his young age he boasts a very important CV: he has in fact coached in Ancona, Civitanova Marche, before being called up to Serie A1 in Battipaglia where he led the team to the playoffs . In the following season he began his adventure in A2 in Udine where he showed all his qualities, leading the Friulians to dominate the championship and reach the final of the Italian Cup. Results that took him to San Giovanni Valdarno with which he won the A2 series championship and subsequently led in the A1 series. Finally the call from Treviso.
“Last year’s results were not a point of arrival, but of departure – commented Matassini – We wanted to lay solid foundations on which to build and we did so, both with the youth sector and with the A2 series. These were the assumptions of the two-year project with which I was linked to the club, so the continuation of the relationship is a natural consequence. Next season I would like to give a further historic result to this club, the first qualification for the Italian Cup: this means that we have the will. to be in the top four positions, which is what we have shown we deserve with this year’s semi-final. At youth level, I hope that the excellent work done will allow us to increase our numbers and continue to grow structure ourselves”.
Now we have to prepare the team for next season, with some new features, but also important confirmations: “In this market we will try to fill the shortcomings that we suffered last year, also pursuing the second aim of lowering the average age of the team team. I am very satisfied with the work done, with the efforts of the club and also with the girls from last year’s team who agreed to continue with us, they will be our pillars.”
