Professor Anna Nucera, former head teacher of the ITI “Panella Vallauri”, has been appointed new president of the Serra Club of Reggio Calabria, Calabria – Sicily District, and will lead the association for the next two years.

During the last convivial, which marked the closing of the Social Year 2023/24, the traditional bell delivery ceremony was held in the refectory room of the Pius Orestes Archonoutgoing president, e Anna Nucera, incoming. The event saw the participation of the rector Don Nino Pangalloof the Serrano members from Reggio, of the Daughters of the Queen of the Rosary nuns serving at the Pius XI Seminary, of the seminarians and their teachers and trainers.

The meeting began, as per tradition, with Serrano’s Mass, concelebrated by Fr Nino Pangallo, Don Emmanuel Mbambavice-rector, don Blaise Maurice Mbaruschingabireprefect of studies, e Don Angelo Battagliaspiritual director, in the Cappella Maggiore dedicated to Saint Paul, founder of the Church of Reggio in 61 AD during his journey to Rome.
Remembered Monsignor Giunta, guide and trainer of many young people
Immediately after Mass, Father Pasquale Triulcio presented the volume “Memory of a past to build a future: Mons. Paolo Giunta”, edited by Msgr. can. Ercole Lacava. Monsignor Paolo Giunta (Archi RC 24.3.1904 – RC 21.9.1990) was Honorary Prelate of His Holiness and Dean of the Metropolitan Chapter of the Archdiocese of Reggio. His commitment was tireless at diocesan and regional level as director of Works of charity.
Committed to the religious, civil and moral education of young people, held, among others, the role of assistant of the FUCI and archbishop’s delegate for Women and Female Youth. Prudent and wise collaborator and advisor to all the bishops who followed one another during his life in the diocese of Reggio Calabria. The nephew, lawyer. Franco Giunta donated the volume to all the young seminarians.

The outgoing president, Oreste Arconte, in his final report, wanted to thank the people of Serrano for the trust placed in him. «Four intense years of my double mandate»Arconte underlined, «of great work done with enthusiasm and in harmony with the Board of Directors and the members, for the care in all its aspects of the Pius XI Seminary, but above all of the young seminarians, both diocesan and those coming from Africa and from Madagascar, who have been coming to train in our Reggio seminary for years.”
