Savona, 21 June International Yoga Day: here are the appointments and initiatives

The slogan of the day dedicated to yoga will be “Our roots, everyone’s future”. A celebration that is also an invitation to practice yoga, as a way of taking care of yourself and everything that is alive. A call to rediscover and return to the essential, to the source of infinite peace that resides within each of us, to discover our roots and write a more conscious future in environmental and social terms.

“The practice of yoga guides us towards an inner transformation that promotes universal values of respect, non-violence, compassion and unity – he declares Swamiji Yogananda Ghiri, Founder of the Italian Hindu Union -. In a world darkened by conflict and division, yoga emerges as a powerful tool that leads to personal and collective change. The invitation we want to make to those who will take part in these days is to embrace the practice of yoga not only as a physical activity, but as a path towards inner peace. A peace that we can cultivate within ourselves, but which has the unique power to radiate outward as well. It is an opportunity to take a step towards building a more harmonious and just society, where non-violence and mutual respect are the fundamental pillars.”

On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, the UII’s invitation is therefore to participate in the events with an open heart and mind, to discover the transformative power of yoga, a term that has its roots in the Sanskrit word yujir, which means “to unite “, “gather”; an ancient practice which, through knowledge of oneself and one’s balance, manages to reflect and generate shared values of positivity.

Participation in the events is free, registration is recommended on the website http:www.induismo.it where you will also find the complete programme.

We thank the City of Savona and the Embassy of India for the recognition given to the initiative and the participating associations for their active presence. The events are also held thanks to the 8 x mille funds of the Italian Hindu Union, which every year carries out projects (see the projects carried out on 8xmille.induismo.it) aimed at promoting social, cultural and educational integration and the protection of the environment and living beings with concrete actions aimed at supporting people, living beings and the planet.

This year too, aromatic plants will be distributed free of charge to participants, the result of an agroecology training program. The new project of the Italian Hindu Union is carried out within the Vercelli prison, to create a virtuous circle of mutual care. Taking care of and protecting the life of even just a little plant has a positive impact on prisoners, reducing their tendency to relapse. A collective care of the person, biodiversity and nature.
