Four days of concerts, dance shows and street food, highlighted by moments of religious meditation with a torchlight procession that will cross a vast area of the Fiumicino-Lido del Faro district. On the coast north of Rome, the patronal festival promoted by the parish of Santa Maria Stella Maris takes place on the days between 20 and 23 June next week.
A long list of events will accompany the traditional procession of the statue of Santa Maria Stella Maris towards the Tyrrhenian port again this year
A first taste of the impressive event, born in the 1950s and then enriched, with the passage of time, by a series of moments and evenings of aggregation will be had next Tuesday 18 Juneat the organizing church located in via Giorgio Giorgis 116, at 7.15 pm with the Sacred Music concert proposed by the Stella Maris Choir with the participation of the Chamber Choir of the International Academy of Music “Opera House” From Rome.
The solemn opening outdoor mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 19 June, at 7.30 pm and will act as a prologue to the procession accompanied by torches which will move at 8.00 pm following the sacred image of the virgin from the parish towards via Porto Romano, via Portico Placidiano, via Torre Alessandrina, via Tempio della Fortuna to end in viale delle Meduse . The religious program of the event also includes the rite of the Novena and the Holy Mass on 20, 21 and 22 June starting at 6.30 pm.
On the days between 20 and 22 June, the individual initiatives dedicated to recreational events will take place, always starting at 6.00 pm, which will act as a corollary to the included patronal feast. the projection, on a large outdoor screen, of the football match between the Italian national team and that of Spain valid for the European football championships, Thursday 20 June at 9.00pm. There is also the possibility of booking a table and tasting, thanks to the mobile “food trucks”, pasta, pizza, chips and fried foods as well as freshly prepared sandwiches and assorted desserts.
In the area dedicated to the patronal feast, an antiques market will be set up with stands created by the Opi Creative Association and the Fiere & Eventi association, various rides will be available for children inside the parish field.
Thursday 20th at 6.15pm the sixth Memorial “P.” community cycle rally will be held. Alberico Papi” dedicated to children, young people and families of two-wheel enthusiasts.
Friday 21st at 9.30pm the show will be staged”Things from the other world”, with choreographies prepared by the Thru Ballet dance school and performed by around a hundred very young dancers.
The second procession of the Virgin will end with the blessing of all those present
Saturday 22 June at 9.00 pm space for music with the concert dedicated to Renato Zero of the cover “Icarus tribute band”.
Sunday 23 June, the final day of the patronal feast, the events on the calendar will be characterized by a dual level of interpretation. It starts at 6.00 pm with a great charity based fishing on surprise prizes and set up in the weekday parish hall of the former theater hall in via Giorgio Giorgis 116.
At 9.00pm Luca Vicari & Latin Animewill dedicate a concert to the famous singer from Poggio Bustone and entitled Battisti per amici and, at 11.30pm, the grand finale with the drawing of the 1st prize of the lottery with tickets on sale at the price of one euro and, up for grabs, a holiday for two people in Sardinia as well as nine other consolation prizes.
Furthermore, on Sunday 23rd there will be a repeat of the mass scheduled for 5.30pm with the solemn procession which, this time, will escort the statue of Santa Maria Stella Maris through the streets of the neighborhood. The image of the Virgin will then be embarked on a unit of the Port Authority of Rome on the Trajan Fossa, the navigable canal of the Tiber, for the blessing dedicated to the port, the city, the faithful and the fishermen.
The procession will be accompanied by the musical band of the Pro Loco of Fiumicino and will parade along the festively lit itinerary up to Viale delle Meduse, where the concerts and all the other convivial moments of the event will take place.
