“More is expected from Avellino, it is important to confirm Perinetti and Pazienza. In 2002…”

Interviewed by TuttoMercatoWeb Radio, the former Avellino footballer and coach, Salvatore Vullo spoke about the green and white season: “From Avellino we always expect something more. A lot was invested and the team could have done more, they were the best equipped. He only recovered at the last minute, but we should have aimed for the top rather than making the playoffs. Reconfirming the staff, with Perinetti and Pazienza is important, although perhaps not all the fans are so happy. I always have respect for the Avellino fans, but lately there has been a bit too much talk. For the transfer market, however, we need a leader in the middle of the pitch.”

Finally, a reminder of the promotion to Serie B achieved in 2003: “In 2002-03 I was called because there had been problems with the previous coach shortly before the start of the championship. The club had even asked me to achieve salvation, but during the planning stage I still asked for bonuses in case of reaching the playoffs or promotion; they thought I was crazy. We then bought Marra as director, Molino and Mimmo Cecere as goalkeeper. In short, we took players from all over and created a great group, which in the end won the championship. As a former Avellino player, however, I still feel with Colomba and Bergossi, while Tagliaferri has unfortunately passed away. I also remember that in Serie A we also had Angelillo, who made us play while having fun. We won because we played well.”
